June 2023 Update from Abel and Sarah

Good morning. We are doing well overall. Again, we've had some sicknesses pass through the last few weeks. Abel suffered greatly from a bad ear infection, that is now gone. However, it seems that one physical ailment plagues him after another lately. He is dealing with a hurt back at the moment. Please pray for encouragement for him in this time of being in constant pain. On a happier note, his arm is getting stronger and stronger.

A few months ago we asked you to pray for Naomi, our sister in Christ who lost her husband back in September, for a place to stay and a job. Thank you for your prayers, she has a place to stay as of a month and a half ago, and she got a really good job which will start next month.

One of our coworkers, the Anyans, that we mentioned in our last update, was sent out by their church here a couple of weeks ago to a least reached people group. We were grateful to be apart of this sendoff. They are settling in well and are so grateful for their kids adjusting well and making friends, which is a big answer to prayer.

We praise God for three different Milele Hata Milele graduations of pastors and missionaries in the past month and a half. God is faithful to make himself known. We thank Him we can be apart of it in this way. Thom and Abel continue to work on the second book called, Living in God's Narrative.

Our life group that meets every other Tuesday is studying through the Gospel of John. As we go through a section of passage each time we discuss what it is says about God, what it says about us, and discuss if there something that we need to do or not to do. We thank God we can be encouraged in His Word in this capacity.

Last month we started having a young man named Liam stay with us on the weekends.  Liam is a student who stays at the Hopac boarding house.  His family moved here from Germany for different reasons in October and we started to get to know them. They ended up moving to another country in Africa, again, for different reasons. However, right as they were leaving, their son Liam was accepted at Hopac. They decided he would stay at the boarding and go to school at Hopac. The boarding is a great place run by fellow German countrymen. However, on the weekends, all the other students are able to go home, leaving Liam all by himself.  So we told him he can stay every weekend with us if he'd like. He is a good kid, very polite, and great for Andrew to have an older "brother".  Liam is enjoying eating American foods and we are enjoying learning about German foods and trying them out. I especially am grateful for the new ideas in cooking. While he is enjoying being here in Tanzania, going to a great school etc., naturally, he is grieving his losses.  He really misses his friends in Germany and his family.  Please pray for him as he processes all these big changes for him. Pray that God will use this to grow his faith.

Please continue to pray for wisdom for Abel and the other members of the Board of Governors at Hopac to be united and make wise decisions in grace and love for Hopac.

The kids are doing well overall. Pacey had a biopsy done on some sort of skin thing that popped up. We are still waiting for the results. I took Heidi to the doctor the other day because of some chest pains that she was having. We found out that she has inflammation in the cartilage next to her sternum. So, she is taking a break from all those pushups that she loves to do. We are grateful it's not heart related. Andrew's real exams (the other ones he was studying for were mock exams), start next week. We are proud of his diligence to study well, and at the same time not be stressed out or consumed thinking that these exams are his whole life!

We had a good conversation the other day in my mentor group. We talked about how God wants to renew and transform the way we think, how to do it, and why it's so important. God is teaching me so much in this area (He has been for many years now). I have seen a lot of change and victory in my life in this area and I'm passionate about wanting to share what God has done and wanting to help and encourage others. I'm thankful for the opportunities that God is giving me to share my personal testimonies of His faithfulness and to give hope to others.

We are so thankful for you. Thank you for your love and support.

We've loved receiving emails from some of you. Thank you!

Love,
Sarah for the Millers
