June 2023 Update from Brooke Bateman

Greetings from Romania! This month has been such a surprise with a mama pigeon that nested and has 2 baby birds on my balcony. :)

It’s been a sweet gift, my very own nature channel.

Thank you for your prayers for the two international conferences I interpreted at in May. They were an absolute success and blessing to the Deaf community who longs to make Jesus known around the world.

Please pray for Deaf believers who are working in closed countries, and or European countries where they are quite literally the ONLY believers. Praise God for the way He has drawn them to Him but please pray as they love our a new life in Christ in a society who does not believe or know Him yet. Pray for their spiritual growth and joy in all of the challenges they face. Please continue to pray for the Deaf around the world to know Jesus and for Bible translation projects in Sign Language to flourish where there is one and for ones to start where there isn’t one yet. And for the Deaf in their countries to have hearts ready to hear the  good news and believe in Jesus. As well as disciples to be made and communities transformed.

This June we will be celebrating with a Scripture dedication of the completed book of Mark in Romanian Sign Language!! Please pray for God to be glorified and for all of the planning to go smoothly. Please pray for the next phase of the translation project that will begin soon!

On a personal note, please pray for my step dad Mike, he is Deaf and has cirrhosis of the liver. He has been hospitalized most of this year and is on a list for a liver transplant. Pray first and foremost for his salvation and for my family to see Jesus at work. I praise God that He is sustaining Mike and that my family is growing closer during this very heartbreaking time. There is hope!

For me please pray for my work tasks and exegesis of God’s Word! To share the hope and love of Jesus with all of those I come in contact with. That I be compelled by the love of Christ and move at His request, to say and be what He wants me to be. I am so thankful that I get to serve here and in pockets of the world. THANK YOU for your continued prayers and partnership in my life and in the Deaf communities!
