Feb 2024 Update from Abel and Sarah

A year ago Christmas, as many of you remember, we were in the US for Abel to get a torn rotator cuff surgery for one of his shoulders. Even at that point, Abel’s other shoulder was beginning to show signs of a tear. The tear has now brought more pain than Abel can bear without medication. After many months of praying about it and not knowing how and when God would provide and make a way for it to happen, He made it clear to us that now is the time. God provided enough money for Abel and Pacey to fly back mid February for one month. The surgery itself is not yet paid for, but we are trusting the Lord to provide for that. He will get the surgery done at the same place he went in 2022 (There is another cool story to be told some day about how we got connected with this hospital). They will stay with my parents who have very generously offered to help take care of Abel after the surgery. Pacey will also be a big help and encouragement to her dad.

The older two kids and I will stay in Tanzania. God has given me a great peace about all of it. I’m thankful that He has brought me to a place in my life where I’m not fearful to be without Abel while he’s traveling. God is my ultimate protector…my ultimate everything really! Over and over again He is showing me how faithful He is and asking me to trust Him. Psalm 34:9 “Oh fear the Lord, you his saints; for to those who fear Him, there is no want.”

Until Abel and Pacey head back to the US in mid February,  Abel is continuing to work on curriculum development for the books of Romans and 1, 2 Thessalonians with Thom and running a language school.  (Remember: we are here in country under a business visa and Abel, along with two Tanzanians are directors in a company that owns a language school that teaches Swahili to foreigners and English to Tanzanians.) The language school is continuing to grow little by little. As with anything we do, we want to be a light in the world and salt of the earth to point others to Christ. Please pray for this business to reflect the Light of Christ and to be a blessing to those who come in contact with it.

Prayer Requests:
-travel mercies for Abel and Pacey to and from the US (Especially the flight back, since Abel will have just had surgery a couple weeks prior)
-strength and safety for myself, Heidi, and Andrew while Abel is gone
-wisdom for the doctors in fixing Abel's shoulder
-strength and wisdom in the Bible curriculum development for Thom and Abel
-the first teaching of the curriculum that will be done by the Tanzanian team while Abel is in the states.
-my mentor group girls- that they would understand that Jesus cares about every detail in their life and wants them to be all in for Him and for them to  understand what that looks like practically speaking in their day to day life.
-for our kids to be salt and light at their school

Thank you for your prayers. Thank you for making it all possible
to be serving here in Tanzania.
