About

Celebrate Recovery (CR) is a Christ-centered 12-step program designed to help you experience freedom from life's hurts, habits, and hang-ups through the transformative power of Jesus Christ. As you invite God into your healing journey, you'll grow deeper in your relationship with Him. CR operates in small groups led by individuals who have personally overcome similar challenges and are dedicated to helping others grow in faith and healing. Frequently asked questions:

  • CR is for people facing any hurt, habit, or hang-up. This includes codependency, shame, anxiety, people-pleasing, anger, pornography, control, relationship issues, trauma, grief, and destructive patterns. You do not need to have an addiction to participate. Many who attend have never struggled with substances. CR is a safe place for emotional, spiritual, and relational healing.

  • If you are new, you might not know your exact struggle. You might also have more than one. Through your 12-Step, Life’s Healing Choices or Open Share groups, you gain clarity as you hear others share and as the Holy Spirit works in your healing.

  • In a 12-Step group, you walk through the 12 Steps and 8 Principles with Jesus as your higher power. The process helps you face your hurts, hang-ups, and habits with clarity and support. Groups usually run about 12 months. They are gender-specific and include people with mixed struggles. Once a group starts, it closes after a few weeks so the group can stay consistent.

You answer workbook questions each week and complete a short devotional or Bible study. Plan for about 30 to 45 minutes of homework.

A typical 12-Step meeting includes prayer, one worship song, a short devotion or share, group introductions, and working through the assigned questions tied to the Steps and Principles.

Participants build strong bonds with others in their group through Accountability Teams, prayer and connection.

  • Life’s Healing Choices is a short-term small group based on the 8 Biblical principles found in the Beatitudes, Matthew 5:3–10. It gives you a simple, practical entry point into recovery. Groups run for 8 weeks and include a weekly video, discussion time, and a workbook with light homework. It’s designed to help you take your first steps toward honesty, surrender, and growth. Many people join a 12-Step group after completing this.

  • Yes. We have childcare for newborns to 5th graders on Monday evenings, Tuesday mornings (during school year), and Thursday evenings.

  • Thursday nights we have a free meal, though we encourage you to ‘give what you can, when you can, for those who can’t.’ Step Study and Life’s Healing Choices books and Recovery Bibles can be purchased when you sign up for a group for minimal costs. Scholarships are available for those with financial needs.

  • Open Share groups are gender-specific small groups that meet after the large group gathering and occasionally on Monday nights throughout the year. You share about your current struggles, victories, and weekly challenges. You are free to just listen until you feel ready to talk.

  • Everything shared at CR stays at CR. What’s said in the group stays in the groups. We do not fix, rescue, or judge. We protect each other’s privacy so every person can grow without fear.

  • CR Summit is a multi-day Celebrate Recovery conference for people in recovery and those serving in the ministry. It offers biblical teaching, worship, team building amongst our church attendees and practical training to strengthen our recovery and help our leaders lead well. It brings together CR leaders, volunteers, and participants from around the globe for encouragement, learning, and connection. Every year, we bring a group of ABC CR attendees to the CR Summit to refuel our ministry.
