About

The IDR is a 10-month residency program running from August through May. Created for this college aged generation of believers, we will provide training in life skills, spiritual disciplines, biblical thought, practical theology and vocational discernment. Watch the video to the right for more information.

Life Skills

Live in community with other interns from August to May. Improve your communication skills, learn how to work through conflict, and live independently.

Spiritual Disciplines

Grow by participating in a one on one discipleship relationship. Learn and practice the spiritual disciplines of prayer, Bible study, scripture memory, fasting, and rest.

Practical Theology

Learn how to serve others. Practice what it means to be a contributing church member.

Biblical Thought

Learn to read, understand, and obey scripture. See how scripture is relevant today and how it impacts your life here and now. Be trained to use scripture to make decisions in your life.

Vocational Discernment

Identify your spiritual gifts and how they can be used for the Church. Work a minimum ten hours a week in vocational employment with a mentor.  Learn from recruiters and career counselors about vocational ministry.  In addition, you can attend Cuesta or online school to further your education.

Don’t just take our word for it!

Hear from our past interns:

Kelsey 2018-2020

The intern program gave me community, lasting friendships, service opportunities, and a deeper understanding of Jesus than I’d ever had before. I grew in my leadership ability, in my networking skills, in the ways I navigate challenging situations, and as a disciple of God. I’m so grateful for my time spent as an intern at ABC and the way it set me up for the future!

Dalexi 2019-2021

I joined the Internship Program because I had an interest in doing missionary work. I understood that the local church is the best place to begin that missionary journey and took the opportunity to join the internship. I learned that the best way to see God move, is to selflessly serve in any way you can.

Courtney 2018-2020

Being an intern gave me the right set of tools and skills to pursue ministry along with strengthening my abilities to be responsible, communicate effectively, and take initiative. All of those things effectively prepared me to do Youth With A Mission in Kona Hawaii in 2020, and to work at Hume Lake Christian Camps with students in California and Massachusetts.

Josh 2017-2019

Being an intern at ABC provided me with the opportunities, mentorship, skill set, and connections that were vital to my launch into vocational ministry. With immense commitment from my mentors, and high-level dedication to the program, I was able to achieve my career goals faster and easier than I could have ever imagined.
