October 2021 Update from Brooke Bateman
Thank you so much for your faithful prayers!
God is answering.
Last month I was able to attend another Deaf Christian Camp. It is in these places where I’m able to really dig in and learn what the struggles of my brothers and sisters are.
One person came to me and poured his heart out. God brought to my attention that many believers struggle with their security in salvation.
I am thankful for the ways God is allowing my eyes and heart to be opened to the gravity of this among other things.
Our Deaf brothers and sisters need the Gospel in their heart language so they can discern the Word of God and hear from Him directly!
The translation team is steadily working through the book of Mark.
So far Mark chapters 1-5 have been completed and published. This past Friday I started a discovery Bible study in my home. we had 7 in attendance. This method teaches the Deaf how to hear from God learn what the Scripture says about God, what that means for their lives, followed by a step of obedience in light of what they just learned. And then lastly a challenge to share the Scripture they learned with one another person that week! This method encourages discipleship and evangelism.
PLEASE pray for the this Bible study! Using this method and using a sign language Bible are both new experiences for everyone here. Please pray for God to open their hearts and minds to grasp the power of the Gospel and live it out.
The group includes those where are faithfully following Him, those who are not yet believers but open and ripe for the harvest, and those who believe but deeply struggle in how to have a personal relationship with Him (they don’t sense Him near or communicating to them).
Pray for me to have wisdom how to nurture and foster a place of love, unity and passion for Jesus!
Please pray that the Deaf will hear from Jesus and sense His deep love, grace and forgiveness.
Thank you family!!
In His love,
