September 2020 Prayer Needs from Travis and Natasha Phillips

Dear brothers and sisters,
We sincerely thank you for taking the time to bring our praises and petitions before the Lord in prayer. It means so much to us. Here are a few things on our hearts at this time:

Natasha is teaching on Daniel chapter 2 for the women’s Bible study in mid-September. This is her first time teaching in front of a camera, so please pray for this time of message writing, that the Holy Spirit would put His thoughts into her mind… and that she would convey the message well that the Lord has for the women that day.

Please pray that the Philippines would begin to re-open its borders. We trust that God’s timing is perfect, but we can still bring our request to Him and trust Him with the outcome. We had planned to move overseas last month, so it was difficult to see our "leave date" come and go. There is a significant need in the Philippines for Bible teaching, Bible translation, church planting, training of national pastors, and other forms of discipleship. We are eager to be there, so please pray we would continue to trust the Lord, and also that we would continue to have burdened hearts for the people there, with a calm urgency.

We are thankful for the opportunities we had in August as well as ongoing opportunities to prepare for moving overseas. Travis was able to co-teach 2 Peter with one of his good friends for our church in Milwaukee via Zoom. He learns so much during his sermon prep time, and it was a blessing for him to be able to share those things with the body of believers in the midwest. We praise the Lord for this. We are also fixing up a goat barn to use for long-term storage of our earthly possessions while we are living overseas. Two praises: 1. We will have a place to keep our things. 2. The drywall guy who Travis has known for several years offered to do the drywall at cost. There’s quite a bit of work left to be done, so please pray we can knock that out pretty quickly.

We are continuing to study the trade language (Visayan) of the southern Philippines while we are here in Atascadero. We appreciate prayer for progress in this, as well as a growing friendship with our Catholic language helper. We are also still waiting for Lily’s passport to come in the mail. Based on numbers, we are hopeful it will arrive in the month of September.

Lastly, we’re thankful that our girls are doing well. They are healthy and growing mentally and physically. They are a huge blessing to us, and I know they bless our extended family as well. This is a praise. Of course, taking Eleanor away from family when we move is going to be really difficult. She won’t understand it at her age. Please begin praying now for her little heart as she experiences a unique type of loss, and that God would comfort her in a way that only He can.

Thank you, again.

In Christ,
Travis and Natasha
