Feb 2023 Prayer Needs Luke and Jessica Thek
Prayer and praise:
We just got language evaluations for the national language and Luke got his results back and He just checked out of language study! Woohoo! Jess got mark 7 of 9 so hopefully she will be done before too long as well! Praise God and all he has helped us to learn.
We are about to go into ‘bush orientation.’ We will spend 8 weeks in a tribal location that already has missionaries and learn about life in the bush while Jess continues to study the national language. Pray that the Lord would help us to lean on Him in this very isolated location and that He would help Jess in her study of the national language.
The tribal location is called ‘wabuku’ and they will be launching a literacy program while we are in there to teach people to read and write in their own language so that they will be able to read the bible in their own language one day! Please pray that there would be much excitement surrounding literacy and that people would come and learn. This will help set part of the foundation for the future church.
Praise the lord as well for providing a team! We haven’t made it final, but God has been moving us towards working with two other families here as we look to move to a tribal location and begin learning language so that they can one day hear the gospel in their own native tongue!
Please pray for the survey trip that one of our teammates, Nathan, is going on. He and some other guys will be gathering information about the Uruwa people in Papua New Guinea to see if it is a strategic location for sending a missionary team.
Please pray for safety. Whether we are just going to town, or somewhere much further, PNG is a dangerous country. A route we just travelled recently had a different car stopped and robbed on it. Also on our way back from a long trip we encountered a lady who was beaten by her husband and we helped get her to a safe location. We must always be vigilant as well as trusting God to protect us.
