May 2023 Prayer Needs Luke and Jessica Thek

Pray for Upegu. This is a place that we frequent for learning the national language. Recently in the next village over a young man died for no apparent reason. When a death without a reasonable cause happens there is huge talk of witchcraft and someone must pay. When they were mourning the loss, the spirit of the dead young man went into his sister and his sister called out the names of 3 suspects. The suspects were beaten and there was talk of killing them. We were at church with our friend peter who is from Upegu and he asked for prayer for the whole situation.

We talked to another man from Upegu recently and he said that the village decided to leave it in the hands of the police instead of killing someone themselves. Praise the Lord.

Jess is SO CLOSE to finishing her national language study. On her last evaluation she got the 8th mark and there are only 9! Please pray that she can finish this up in may!

Please pray for our coworkers, the Weavers. They went back to the US and looking to come back in January. They have some trials they are working through but they are optimistic about returning strong!

Pray that things would continue to move forward as we trust the Lord to guide us to where are team will allocate. We are interested in a people group in the mountains of the morobe province that doesn’t yet have God’s word in their native language.
