June 2024 Prayer Needs from Travis and Natasha Phillips

Thank you for praying for our team here and thank you for your continued generous support of our ministry. The Lord is doing great things, and we appreciate your continued prayers. We continue to work hard in our role as the “Culture and Language Acquisition Program managers” while also continuing to prepare for future work in a tribal village and ministering locally in our city. We thank the Lord for His sustaining grace and the wonderful team we have around us.

Please continue to pray for our friends/coworkers back in Germany for whom we are filling in for as program managers. The husband, Boris, continues to struggle with Lymphoma and some terrible side effects of radiation. Please pray for healing for his body, continued trust in the Lord and for perseverance for his wife and she takes care of their three children and the children are adjusting to the German public school system. Our hearts are often heavily burdened for them, but we know God is close to them in these difficult times.

As we think about the future, one big prayer request we have is for upcoming people group survey work that will begin soon and probably go for the next couple of months. Please pray for wisdom for us and for the family we are planning to partner with in a tribal ministry. We need to decide on which language group we will work among, and what village to live in. We REALLY appreciate your prayers for this huge decision. We trust the Lord will open the door He wants us to walk through and close the ones He does not want us to walk through. But please pray for an open door, which would include an official invitation from both government officials and tribal councils.

Praise the Lord with us that all three new missionary families in our city now have a home to live in, furniture, water tanks, internet and more to function well as they jump into culture and language acquisition next week! Our whole team has contributed a lot to help them get settled in. We will host their Phase 1 kickoff in our home a week from today, then the following Monday they will begin learning the language - exciting times!

In the realm of language consulting, we have two people needing a follow-up evaluation in early June, so Travis and our head language teacher (kuya Wendel) will be conducting those. We also have one family almost ready for their phase 3 evaluation (basically the half-way point in their language and culture studies), so Travis and kuya Wendel will also be leading that.

Two days ago Travis had the opportunity to preach at our church’s Wednesday night prayer meeting, and he will be preaching at a different church this Sunday as a guest speaker. We appreciate your prayers for a clear mind, and that the Holy Spirit would touch hearts, as Travis communicates God’s word in the heart language of the people.

Finally we thank the Lord for good health, for time in His word in our personal devotion time, for birthdays for both of our girls (May 16 and June 8) and celebrating 9 years of marriage today! We are undeserving of such blessings; the Lord is gracious and faithful.

Thank you very much for your prayers and ongoing support.

God is good all the time, and all the time God is good.
