May 2020 Update from Brooke Bateman
My prayer is that you are all healthy and growing closer to Jesus and family during this challenging time.
My father has been in the hospital with sepsis since Easter. With 2 surgeries and lots of continued antibiotics he is in good spirits and we trust God will pull him through.
Please pray.
Romania has been on state of emergency for nearly 2 months now. For the most part my heart has been steady and full of joy. But last week I did grieve being along on Easter, dad in the hospital and continued time in isolation.
But I reached out for prayer and God has been so faithful to draw me to Him even more. I’ve been so encouraged through several scriptures but right now I’m camping out on John 15 reminded and marveling at the truth, we are invited to abide in Christ and He in us. “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love.”
I have been throwing myself into language learning and loving every second. However difficult it might be learning 2 languages during isolation! Thank God for internet. I have 4 language helpers who I meet with weekly at different times.
But despite this joy. God is calling me to be still and abide in Him. Above all I just abide in Him and He will cause me to bear fruit.
So my prayer requests are:
That I would bear fruit by mentoring and walking others through the Word.
Specifically with Claudia, she is Deaf and 18 years old. We meet weekly online to worship, read the Word and pray. God is shaping her into a woman of God. I pray He would give me wisdom in every conversation and interaction.
Also, pray that I would begin a weekly or biweekly bible study with my mom and brother who came to accept Jesus last December. As we know COVID is giving us special time to reach out to loved ones.
Ministry here is continuing on despite the challenges.
Please keep Romania and the Deaf in your prayers!
