April 2022 Update from Brooke Bateman
I am doing well. I am grateful to be here in Romania as such a time as this.
Praise God with me that:
I have made connections with Deaf Ukrainians.
I was able to host one family while they were in transit to France. I shared the love of Jesus and thanked God that they slept well during their stay. While they were with me they had been waiting for their son to cross the border. He did in fact reunite with them.
Last weekend I spent the weekend with 7 Deaf refugees. They are currently planning to stay in Romania. A wonderful couple has given them their camp rentals for free over the next two months. I took Claudia with me to visit this group for the weekend. During the time I asked them if we could pray with and for them. We did and I shared some verses with them. I heard a bit more of their thoughts on God and religion and mostly just built friendship. Pray for more opportunities to connect with them while they are here.
I see God using me to connect Deaf Ukrainians with other Deaf in countries where they can find support both in spiritual and practical needs.
Please pray for Oleg the leader of the Ukrainian Bible Translation team, he and his family and others have relocated to another part of Ukraine where they continue translation and evangelizing to the Deaf displaced. The church is gathering 4 times a week! But a core group is going out to find Deaf and share Jesus.
I have some ideas of how to continue being a support to the Ukrainians. Pray for wisdom as I brainstorm with other team members in GSLT. Some of which include support in education for displaced Deaf children.
I am in the midst of moving this week and still looking for a car. PLEASE PRAY FOR God to help me find a good car at a decent price.
I travel to Pennsylvania to interpret at an international bible conference. Please pray for good travels and excellent communication! For me to be an asset to Deaf leaders as they seek to have connections with and grow in their understanding of Bible translation and best practices etc.
In His Hands,
Brooke
THANK YOU ABC FAMILY!
